Nuclear power has been promoted as a green energy source to reduce carbon emissions from electricity generation and help mitigate climate change. However, nuclear power generation produces significant amounts of radioactive waste for which there is little or no solution. In addition, the presence of nuclear power plants increases the risk of potential military use and widespread pollution in the event of an accident. Uranium mining also leads to land degradation and local air and water pollution. Nuclear power is also more expensive than renewable energy sources such as wind and solar.

Risks of nuclear power generation
The European Union has introduced a sustainable finance taxonomy to guide private capital towards investments in renewable energy systems. According to this taxonomy, nuclear energy can be classified as a green investment. However, critics argue against labelling nuclear energy as green due to the unresolved issue of nuclear waste management.
- Frustrated the efforts to address the initial problem
- Cascading (far-reaching effects following each other); Multilple (effects disconected from each other)
